5/19/20 Season Update Letter from SALL President Michael A. Noto:

May 19, 2020

Dear SALL Community:

I hope you are all doing well during these difficult times. The Board of Directors for Stamford American Little League has been in constant communication regarding the 2020 Spring season. We’ve been closely monitoring Little League International, the State of Connecticut and the City of Stamford for updates and have reviewed all of your surveys regarding your interest in little league baseball this season.

Based on your surveys, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Tee Ball, A and AA for the 2020 Spring season. In addition, we’ve decided to refund all registration fees for the 2020 Spring season, including those for our AAA and Majors divisions.

We remain steadfast in our desire to hold a baseball season for AAA and Majors and continue to make all preparations to ensure that our older players don’t lose out on the end of their little league time. However, we cannot at this time announce a formal start date or the exact format the season might take. While the City of Stamford has not yet given us a firm date to start baseball, we’re forecasting that we may be able to begin around June 29th, the date that the State is allowing summer camps to open on during Phase 1 of the State reopening plan. Until we get further information from the City and State, we will use this date as a benchmark. We will continue to update the league as information becomes available; please check our COVID-19 updates page regularly.

Regarding refunds, please be patient as this is a large endeavor for our volunteer organization. The decision to refund all registration fees, while we feel is the proper decision, will take an economic toll on our league as various sums of money have already been spent in anticipation of the 2020 Spring season. We will conduct a donation drive later in the season and ask that you consider making a contribution to help us recoup some of these costs to ensure the proper operation of SALL going forward. More information on this will be forthcoming.

Thank you for your time and attention and your unwavering support of SALL. We will get through this, and we will play ball together again soon. I look forward to seeing you all at the fields in the near future. In the meantime, remember now’s a great time to go outside and spend some time as a family having a catch!

UPDATE 5/4/20: Player Activities Have Been Postponed Until at Least 5/20/20
in Accordance with the Phased Reopening Plan for Connecticut

While Little League International has recommended baseball activities begin no earlier than 5/11/20, leagues must follow applicable local/state regulations.

PLAYER FAMILIES: as SALL eagerly awaits further guidance from both our city and state,
we have sent you a survey about your interest in playing if/when we can
have a delayed Spring 2020 season.

While we are making every attempt to have a Spring 2020 season and are as eager as many of our players and families' to be back on the field, rest assured, we will put safety at the forefront of our decisions.

We will update all players and their families, sponsors and involved parties here and via email as soon as we get additional guidance from both the City of Stamford and the State of Connecticut.

UPDATE 4/2/20: our League Statement is below, please note any updates above.

UPDATE 3/13/20: The SALL Board of Directors has voted on 3/12/20 to suspend
all SALL activities, effective immediately, until further notice.

At this time we are only delaying the season start until it is deemed safe
and still plan to have a great Spring 2020 Season!

Registration for Tee Ball / A will remain open as planned
and will be extended if necessary.

This difficult decision was made to ensure the safety of our League children and families, in accordance with the official urging of Little League Inc. to postpone the the spring season until at least April 6th.
Additionally, we've taken into consideration the 3/13/20 closing of the Stamford Public Schools.

We will lean heavily on the Stamford Department of Health,  Stamford Board of Ed.,
Little League Inc. and the State of CT to determine when we can safely resume activities.

All updates will be posted as soon as available.
Major updates will also be communicated via email.
